Legacy Tree Project 2024
The Bangor Historical Society (BHS) is collecting photographs and stories of the people in the area who have helped make our history. Whether your loved one was a merchant, banker, logger, nurse, homemaker, clerk, business owner, volunteer or a contributor in any way to the community, BHS would love to hear their story. As we celebrate the holidays with our traditional Holidays at Hill House, this year we are including a “Legacy Tree” to welcome visitors by sharing with the photos and stories of some of those who have helped shape our community as it is the people who help make the place. We would like to see photos of your loved one who has passed who left a mark on the history of the area. It is the everyday efforts of all people who have lived and worked in the community that have made us who we are today.
To participate in the project, provide pertinent information by completing the attached form along with a digital copy of a photo of your loved one. The photo will be displayed in a 2” x 3” gold ornament frame on the Legacy Tree. If you cannot provide a digital copy of a photo, you can make arrangements to have BHS scan the photo for you. Call 207-942-1900 to make arrangements. Once the form is completed and the photo inserted into the ornament, you can hang the photo on the tree yourself or we can do it for you. The stories provided will be in a “story book” placed beside the tree.
Please email completed forms to: curator@bangorhistoricalsociety.org
The photos and stories will be maintained by BHS for future reference and research on the people of the area.
